JOHANNE LAUKTIEN, C-IAYT, RYT500, YACEP® C-Yoga for Survivor

  

JOHANNE is a yoga therapist specializing in adult oncology. She is certified in Yoga for Survivors® with two distinctive certifications from Upaya Zen Center in professional training for clinicians in Compassionate Care of the Seriously Ill and Dying and G.R.A.C.E. ® interventions based in Compassion-based Interactions in the Clinician/Patient Encounter. 


In 2016, after living and practicing a one-year residential program, Johanne has was honored to recieve Jukai by Roshi Joan Halifax. 


She is the Founder of Yoga Instruction & Healing for Cancer Survivors with a mission to break down barriers in the medical community and to bring the positive research-based benefits of yoga to Cancer Centers and more diverse populations including Spanish-speaking communities affected by cancer.

 

She educates, implements and operates remedial yoga specifically for a conventional clinical environment for patients coping with cancer’s debilitating side-effects during treatment for Cancer Centers Integrative Medicine.

Johanne also served as a Holistic Health Instructor Oncology Yoga at Banner Health MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, teaching programs based in Mind-Body Interventions for different Cancer populations.


Johanne began her Iyengar yoga practice in 2012 while living in London. She continued to immerse herself studying Sanskrit and yoga for Stress Management at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in London. In 2014 under the guidance of Swami Brahmavidyananda Saraswati she received parampara under the Sivananda-Satyananda Lineage.

 

Johanne advanced her training  graduating in 2019 from Scottsdale Community College & the Iyengar Yoga Center of Scottsdale completing an Occupational Therapy Certification in Yoga based on the Iyengar Yoga Method. 


She served as Vice President for the IYASW in Arizona. 


She is currently training under the guidance of Carolyn  Belko, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at a   Senior Level III Certification  to further advance her training as a teacher in the Iyengar Yoga Method and assisting weekly in the Yoga Therapy classes as an apprentice.
